Before you get there though, you need to get it up and running. In that respect, the Arlo Pro 4 really scores. It is a camera that connects directly to your WiFi. You open your app on the iPhone, scan the QR code on the camera and then the connection is made. So you don’t have to get started with a possible smarthub, which is nice. Once you’ve done that, it’s time to hang it. It is also very simple in that respect. You have to drill a hole in the wall and then place the holder there. That takes a few minutes. Then you place the camera with a magnet and it is firmly attached.

Once you’ve done that, go back to your iPhone or iPad. You can set everything there via the app. This makes it possible to determine the area within the field of view on which the camera should be activated. If you live near a street, you don’t have to activate your camera and get a notification for every car that passes by. So you adjust the area that is important to you. You can also determine when it should start. For example, you may like that the camera activates on movement when you are away from home, which is measured via your geolocation. But it is also possible to activate the camera at certain times. I usually work from home a lot, so activate it especially when it’s evening.

Due to the ease of use, the good image quality and the app that is easy to use, the Arlo Pro 4 is a fine device. The only drawback is that there is a delay between the image you see on your iPhone and what is happening in real life. That way it is a bit difficult to talk to the person at the door via the app, because you are always delayed. But other than that, the product does what it’s supposed to do.
