Are you about to buy a new iPhone? Then make sure you don’t make one of these ten mistakes. iPhoned list the common mistakes for you.
Buying a new iPhone
Buying a new iPhone often takes some time, because you want to be sure that you buy the iPhone that suits you best. Yet the same mistakes are often made when buying a new phone. Do you want to avoid these mistakes? iPhoned lists the most common mistakes when buying a new iPhone for you.
1. The Pro isn’t always the best choice
A common mistake when buying a new iPhone is thinking that the Pro is always the best choice. The Pro always has more and more extensive functions, but that does not mean that the iPhone 14 Pro, for example, is the best choice for you. If you hardly use all the extra functions of the Pro, it is better to go for the ‘regular’ version of the phone.

This often saves you quite a bit of money. At € 1,150.95, the iPhone 14 Pro is much more expensive than the iPhone 14, which you get for € 894. The iPhone 14 is also a good phone, so if you don’t use the extra features of the Pro, the regular version is a great choice.
2. Immerse yourself in the iPhone screen
Perhaps the most important part of a new iPhone is the screen. Yet the screen is often overlooked when buying a new iPhone. Do you often use your phone in the bright outdoors? Then the peak brightness is important. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have the brightest display on an iPhone ever, with a peak brightness of no less than 2000 nits.

In addition, it is important to think in advance about the things you will use your iPhone for. If you only send messages and emails, it is less important how well animations run on your phone. Do you use heavier apps? Then the speed of the refresh is relevant. So think carefully about what is important to you with the screen of an iPhone.
3. Buy your iPhone from a professional Apple store
It might be obvious: buy your iPhone from a professional Apple retailer. Too often people are scammed through sites that look professional, but are not. By buying your iPhone from a reliable seller (such as those in our price comparison) you have a guarantee and you know for sure that you are buying a good iPhone. 4. The Pro doesn’t have a better connection or range
Do you think it’s important that your iPhone always has good coverage and access to fast internet? And that the bluetooth works smoothly? Then it doesn’t matter which iPhone you buy, because the regular iPhone 14 and the iPhone 14 Pro, for example, do not differ in terms of range or connection. Both phones even have the SOS function, with which you can make an SOS call via a satellite.
So you don’t have to go for a more expensive iPhone for a better range or a better WiFi connection. Are you often in areas where you have no coverage at all? Then the SOS function of the iPhone 14 series can come in handy. This function is not yet usable in the Netherlands, but it is expected that the satellite function will come to our country soon.
5. Buy a case for your new iPhone right away
New iPhones often look incredibly beautiful and you want to keep it that way. It is therefore the safest choice to protect your iPhone with a case. Fortunately, nowadays you have a choice of many different cases, depending on how well you want to protect your iPhone. Are you very clumsy? Then it is advisable not to buy a plastic case.

6. Insure your new iPhone properly
An accident is in a small corner, even with a cover. It is therefore advisable to insure your phone properly. An easy way to do this is to take out AppleCare+, your iPhone is then insured with Apple against damage for two years. The service can be taken out immediately when buying a new iPhone, so that you can quickly rectify later mistakes such as dropping your phone.
The advantage of AppleCare+ lies in the fast replacement service, but also in the fact that fall and water damage are covered. In addition to coverage for two incidents of damage (due to drops, bumps or moisture), AppleCare+ gives you a warranty on the battery, USB cable and charger. You can also claim software problems with, for example, iOS, iCloud and Apple apps.
7. The camera of the regular iPhone 14 is also good
Do you use your iPhone a lot for taking photos? Then the iPhone 14 Pro is a good choice, because the phone has more camera functions than the iPhone 14. However, the difference is not huge, especially if taking photos is not important to you. The camera of the regular iPhone 14 is also very good, you can also take very nice photos with that phone. So think carefully about how important taking pictures is to you.
8. Don’t overestimate the A16 Bionic chip
The processors of the new iPhones are getting faster every year, the A16 Bionic chip is also faster than the A15. However, the A15 Bionic chip was also very fast, so you hardly notice the difference between the two chips. Both the A15 and A16 Bionic chip have six cores and both processors handle heavy tasks very well. So don’t overestimate the A16 Bionic chip, especially when compared to the A15.
9. Also buy a charger with your new iPhone
A few years ago, Apple decided to no longer supply chargers with new iPhones, in order to make the sale of the phones less harmful to the environment. It is therefore not unimportant to buy a charging cable when buying a new iPhone, especially if you no longer have a usable cable at home. When buying a new iPhone, this is one of the common mistakes.

Buying a new charging cable becomes even more important with the iPhone 15, because Apple is switching to a USB-C connection with this year’s new iPhones. Your Lightning adapter no longer works with the new iPhones, so it’s important that you have a USB-C cable at home to charge your new phone. Apple meets the new European guidelines with the USB-C connection.
10. Think about when you take photos most often
While it was already mentioned at point seven that the camera of the regular iPhone is very good, it was also mentioned that it is important that you know how important the camera is to you. For example, the camera of the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) can zoom in better and the camera of the iPhone 15 Pro Max can probably do that even better. Do you zoom in a lot with your camera? Then a Pro model is a better choice. Or you even wait for the successor, because that will only take half a year.
In addition, the cameras of the Pro models take better photos in lower light. The iPhone 12 Pro (Max), the iPhone 13 Pro (Max) and the iPhone 14 Pro (Max) have a LiDAR scanner in the black dot on the camera island. With this you can also take portrait photos at night, for example. It is therefore good to think in advance about the situations in which you often take photos.
Buying a new iPhone 14? Check the best prices
So it depends on many different factors whether which iPhone is the best choice for you to buy. The most important thing is that you consider what you are buying the new phone for, because the regular iPhone is often already an excellent choice. Do you want to get more out of your photos or do you really want the latest and fastest processor in your phone? Then the Pro is the best match.
