Comes from Jaguar Land Rover

Italians and design, that is often a good combination. They will also have to deal with it at Audi, where Massimo Frascella will become the new leader of the design department.
A new design era may be dawning for Audi, as the German brand’s designers will have a new leader. Massimo Frascella will take over from Marc Lichte on June 1, who took over as chief designer of Audi ten years ago. Lichte will continue in a new and undisclosed position within the Volkswagen Group.
Perhaps the name Massimo Frascella sounds familiar to you from a recent news story. That could be right; In January it was announced that he was quitting Jaguar Land Rover. Frascella had been head designer there for several years and had been associated with the British company since 2011. Under his creative leadership, the Land Rovers Discovery Sport (2014), Discovery (2016), Range Rover Velar (2017), Range Rover Evoque (2019) and the current Land Rover Defender were created. Frascella also has experience at the drawing board at Kia, where he worked before his time at JLR.
It looks like we can expect Audis without too many frills in the future thanks to Frascella: “Simplicity is the essence of my approach to design. I have a passion for creating designs that are free of unnecessary ornaments and do not simply follow trends. Instead, we will rely on a timeless and refined design language,” he explains his approach.
