An Audi RS6 Avant not thick enough? Just wait until you see this RS6 GTO Concept! A unique RS6 Avant manufactured by the Audi Akademie Neckarsulm that gives a nod to the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO!
Audi has somewhat of a retro taste. The brand recently introduced a 40-year Quatrro edition of the Audi TT RS, which was not intended for the Dutch market and loaded with retro details, and now the RS6 Avant is hoisted in a historically somewhat responsible suit. We are introduced to the Audi RS6 GTO Concept, a tremendous power put together by the Audi Akademie in Neckarsulm.
Audi TT 40 Jahre (40 pieces, not for the Netherlands)
According to an accompanying letter, the RS6 GTO Concept is a nod to the Audi 90 quattro IMSA GTO, a rip nose based on the Audi 90 that entered the American IMSA GTO racing series in 1989 and which, together with the iconic rally Quattros, is the all-wheel drive system of More or less put Audi on the map. The RS6 GTO Concept has wheels that are reminiscent of the ones under the race 90. Just like that race car, the model has a red rear spoiler and the color scheme is more or less the same. The race-90 had a heavy sidepipe on the right side, on the RS6 GTO Concept we see an exhaust end piece in the left sill. The Audi RS6 GTO Concept has racing fairings with six-point seat belts, a roll cage and an otherwise apparently reasonably stripped interior. There are probably no production plans.
