Until the arrival of the super-hard RS3 variants, the A3 family has a new top version: the S3. In one fluid movement, Audi digitally pulls the canvas of both the S3 Sportback and the S3 Limousine.
Until the yet to be revealed fierce Audi RS3 Sportback and RS3 Limousine downgrades the new S3 to sub-topper, the kakelvers S3 versions are the absolute toppers of the A3 range. As before, the sporty duo has a 2.0 TFSI under the hood that generates 310 hp, although the further developed four-cylinder with a maximum torque of 400 Nm now has an extra 20 Nm compared to their predecessors. The 2.0 TFSI is in all cases linked to a S tronic automatic transmission with seven gears.
Anyone who gives the four-wheel drive S3s firmly on their feet must be able to thunder to 100 km / h in 4.8 seconds. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h. Scrubbing with the S3s is undoubtedly accompanied by a nice sound, although you can choose an extra solid engine sound via Audi Drive Select. Both the S3 Limousine and S3 Sportback stand on a sports suspension that puts the pair 1.5 centimeters closer to the asphalt. An S sports suspension with damper control is optional. Of course, a modified braking system ensures that the two newcomers can be properly calmed down again.
Of course, the sporty heart of the S3 goes hand in hand with a sporty appearance. The S3 Sportback and S3 Limousine, for example, can be recognized from the outside by their adapted grille with a diamond pattern. Large air intakes have been cut into the bumpers and the mirror caps are finished in aluminum look, entirely in accordance with S tradition. At the bottom of the buttocks, amid a diffuser, the S-signature sets of twin tailpipes hang. You will recognize the yet to be revealed RS3 by its two oval tailpipes. The S3s are standard on 18-inch alloy. 19-inch footwear is optional.
Inside, too, the S3 Limousine and S3 Sportback distinguish themselves from their braver brothers and sisters. For example, Audi applies various aluminum and carbon fiber accents. A digital instrument panel is standard, although you have to pay extra for the more extensive Virtual Cockpit and the superlative Plus version thereof. Sports seats are part of the standard equipment.
The new S3 Sportback and S3 Limousine will be at dealers from October. Dutch prices will follow in the run-up to the market launch.
