We already knew that it was coming, but today we really get to know the Automobili Estrema Fulminea for the first time. The new electric hypercar comes from Italy, is fully electric and has special technology and a lot of power on board.
It started with the announcement of the first bizarre specifications, followed by the first images of a digital Estrema. That is the big surprise with this car, but today we really get to see it for the first time.
At least: from the outside, because the interior will remain a secret for the time being. On the outside it is a typical hypercar extremist, an elongated and low car with a lot of spoilers and extreme offshoots. The most striking side is without a doubt the rear, where the rear light appears to merge with a colorful collection of spoilers and splitters, shaded by a vertical, transparent and illuminated ‘fin’. The Fulminea, meaning ‘instant’ or ‘lightning fast’, is 4.68 meters long, 2 meters thick and only 1.15 meters high.
Special hybrid battery
Estrema does not get rid of it easily and provides the Fulminea with a unique electric powertrain. That special feature is mainly in the power storage. For example, the car uses the long-awaited and coveted ‘solid state’ batteries, which have a higher energy density and thus contribute to the relatively favorable vehicle weight of 1,500 kg.
In addition, the Fulminea uses ultracapacitors, or super capacitors. They are able to store and deliver power at lightning speed, which makes the car both more efficient and faster. A smart computer determines in no time which part of the innovative power supply is used when.
10 seconds
In any case, the Estrema Fulminea is fast: four electric motors help each other with 2,040 hp. If you press the right pedal against the floor from a standstill, you will not see 100, not 200, not 300, no less than 320 km / h in 10 seconds. That is also the only sprint that Estrema currently calls, because why should you worry about speeds below 320 km / h? Well, perhaps to save energy and to achieve the specified WLTP range of 520 km on the total stock of 100 kWh. Not bad either.
Production of the Estrema Fulminea should start in the third quarter of 2023. In total, the plan is to build 61 copies, for a bare price of € 1,961,000. Does the environmentally conscious car buyer have another option …
