With the brand new price list of the new Mercedes-Benz GLA under our arm, we are diving into the configurator of the new compact SUV this week. For just under half a ton we get the keys of a GLA 200 pressed into our hands.

Anyone who clicks on this article with the old GLA in mind and full of enthusiasm should probably grab a seat. The brand new GLA is in fact just under € 10,000 more expensive than the previous generation. That is of course a bit of a swallow. However, Mercedes claims that the brand new GLA is more of an SUV than before. To minimize the shock, we have to say that the previous GLA stepped in with a 180 version and Mercedes is now no less than the 200 version. As a result of this choice, the petrol slip-in has 163 hp under the hood. Benz connects a seven-speed automatic transmission to this engine. For comparison: the more powerful GLA 250 has 224 hp and gets an eight-speed automatic. The additional price for this engine is around € 3,000. You can diesel with one engine: the 200d with 150 hp. This is, however, priced a lot more expensive than the gasoline versions with a basic price of € 52,854.
Halogen
The outside of a standard GLA can be recognized by various things. 17-inch wheels make contact with the world as standard. In contrast to more luxurious versions, the headlights are only partially fitted with LED technology. In addition to LED daytime running lights, the entry level halogen headlights. The subsequent Style version can count on high-performance LED headlights. In terms of chrome finish, a standard GLA gets a silver-colored roof railing and the grille is partly decorated, the window frames remain black. In the area of parking assistance, the GLA does get a reversing camera, but do not wait for the beeps of the sensors because they are missing all around. In contrast to the standard yellow A to Class back to basics, the GLA is only available in black at no extra cost.
MBUX
Inside the GLA, Mercedes works with a leather-look interior, where the trim is given a carbon print. The sports steering wheel is finished with real leather. Although the large panel suggests otherwise, this entry-level version also has two separate compact screens for all information and multimedia and the wide screen is reserved for more luxurious versions. The displays are now each 7 inch in size and offer access to the MBUX system. The standard features show that the equipment levels of the GLA are mainly concerned with appearance, material types and colors. Take the cruise control, automatic air conditioning and the zipper of auxiliary systems: every GLA gets the same provision. In comparison with the rest, we only miss an electrically operated tailgate. Oh, and the vehicle key (which works keyless!) Does not get a chrome trim …
