Bahrain F1 qualifying: pole position for Leclerc

The first qualifying of the new Formula 1 season is over. Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc pulled the longest straw with the fastest time. Max Verstappen will start from second place at the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday.

It will be Ferrari against Red Bull in Bahrain, with Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen side by side on the front row. Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz starts from third place and Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez starts in fourth place.

It is striking that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton disappointed. The Briton was much slower than Leclerc and Verstappen and set the fifth fastest time. Mercedes has been struggling all weekend and that was reflected in qualifying.

The race starts on Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Bahrain International Circuit. Then Verstappen hopes to immediately take the lead in the World Cup position, in terms of race pace, the Red Bull seems to be one step ahead of Ferrari.
