There is a new social media app that is getting more and more popular. With BeReal you get two minutes to take a picture and share it with your friends. This allows you to see real photos and not the posed photos that you find on Instagram.
BeReal: maybe better than Instagram
Tired of all those fake and posed photos on Instagram? Then BeReal might be something for you. With this app, you only get two minutes to take a photo at any time of the day. As a result, you do not get the chance to choose the perfect location, the right light and a good filter. At BeReal you immediately take a photo, without fuss.
This provides a breath of fresh air on social media. After all, the photos show the real people and their surroundings. You therefore have no filters in the app or ways to edit your photos.
Another notable feature is that BeReal also takes a selfie at the same time. This selfie will be pasted onto the photo you just took. Your friends will also see a small photo of yourself. This happens automatically and is quite unexpected if you don’t know it. So the first photos of new users often consist of the most unflattering faces…

How BeReal works
Of course you need an account to use BeReal. For this you must provide your telephone number. When you give the app access to the contacts on your iPhone, you immediately see which of your friends is also using the app. Of course it is possible to search for friends.
After that, you will receive one notification every day to take a photo, which gives you two minutes to do. Your friends on BeReal do the same and you can view each other’s photos afterwards. Then you can leave a comment or even create your own ‘RealMoji’.
Post comments and create RealMoji
To leave a comment on a photo of your friends, tap the speech bubble. You can then see the comments of others and post your own comment.
It is also possible to post a custom emoji. You do this by tapping the emoji sign next to the photo. Then select one of the emojis to mimic or do your own thing by tapping the bottom icon. Then take a selfie to create your own RealMoji. This image will then be placed immediately below the photo you are responding to.
Delete account from BeReal
Have you tried BeReal and didn’t like it? Then you can delete your account. You do that in the following way.
Delete account from BeReal
- Tap your profile at the top right and tap the three dots;
- Choose ‘Help > Contact us’;
- Select the bottom option ‘Delete Account’;
- Choose an option and tap ‘Yes, I’m sure’.
Your account will then be logged out immediately and all data will be deleted within fifteen days. If you log in again within those fifteen days, your data and account will be saved.
