At the end of last year, the first images of a very quirky Citroen emerged in China: the C3L. New images of this special newcomer have emerged via Chinese social channels.
The C3L is a Citroen sedan specifically for the Chinese market, which will be launched in China this year together with joint venture partner Dongfeng-Citroen. The brand new entry is remarkable in every way. The car shares its technical basis with the C-Elysee, the technical twin brother of the Peugeot 301, which means that the previous generation 208’s hidden technology is hidden. However, the C3L is not a car that will take over from the C-Elysee. Where the C-Elysee is a conventionally lined sedan, the C3L takes a completely different approach.
This high-standing newcomer is the sedan version of the C3-XR, a compact crossover that Citroën also does not offer in Europe. That makes the C3L a special case, a kind of cross oversedan in the style of cars like the Lada Vesta Cross, Dacia Logan Stepway and the considerably larger S60 Cross Country. The C3L measures 4.51 meters in length, which makes it 8 centimeters longer than the aforementioned C-Elysee. The C3L towers a total of 1.51 meters above the asphalt. The engine list will include an atmospheric 1.6 that delivers 116 hp, although Citroën also has a blown 1.2 on the roll that kicks it up to 115 hp. The starting price of the C3L is set at converted slightly more than € 14,200.
Chinese consumers can choose from quite a few sedans in China. In addition to this C3L and C-Elysse, Citroën also sells the C4L, the C4 Sedan, the C5 and a C6 in China.
