Bicycle thieves are increasingly targeting electric bicycles. Even with a lock, your bike can easily be stolen. This makes it a lot more difficult for them.
Bicycle thieves don’t want you to buy this Apple gadget
You don’t want to think about it: if you just walk out of Albert Heijn, your (brand new) electric bicycle is gone. To compress! But it’s all too common these days. It recently became known that bicycle thieves use a kind of ‘Power key’ to open a bicycle lock on an electric bicycle within a few seconds.
Of course, this is of no use if your bicycle is stolen and the police are often powerless. The unique frame number of your bicycle will be adjusted as quickly as possible and your steel steed will be quickly collected in a warehouse. It is then quickly shipped abroad.
You can of course hang multiple locks on your bicycle and that is a good start to make it more difficult for thieves. But that won’t do you any good if they end up taking the bike.
Stolen bicycle: make it extra difficult for thieves
Has your bicycle been stolen? In that case, Apple’s AirTag comes into play. You can use this to track your bicycle. If you are quick enough, you can find your bike again (but of course you have to call the police immediately).
It is smart to ‘hide’ the AirTag on your bicycle. Then you run the least chance of thieves removing the AirTag. For example, you can buy a bicycle bell in which you can place the AirTag.
You could also hide one under (or in) the saddle. There are even more ways to hide an AirTag on your bike. You can read more about this in the article below.
