The symbol of the battery appears in different colors, including red, yellow and blue. This means a blue battery on your iPhone or iPad!
Blue battery
The symbol of the battery has different colors in iOS and iPados. The icon is white as standard, but also appears in a yellow, green, red and blue version. Every color says something about the status of the battery at the iPhone or iPad. Is the battery yellow? Then you have switched on the energy saving mode, so that the battery uses less power and lasts longer. With a green icon the device is on the charger and is fully charged. Red means that the battery is almost empty.
Many users probably regularly see a white, yellow, red or green battery symbol, but a blue battery on the iPhone or iPad is rare. That is not very strange, because the blue color says nothing about the status of the battery. Instead, the custom color is intended to make the screen more readable for users with a visual impairment. Curious how you hire this? This way you get a blue battery on your iPhone or iPad.

Clever inverted
The blue battery on the iPhone or iPad appears when you switch on ‘smartly’ on the device. This function was previously mainly used to mimic a dark mode on the iPhone or iPad. Since the introduction of dark mode, this is no longer necessary, but the feature is used by visually impaired or users with a different visual impairment. In this way you call in ‘smartly inversely’:
- Open ‘settings’ on your iPhone or iPad;
- Go to ‘accessibility’;
- Tap ‘display and text size’;
- Switch on ‘smartly in reverse’.
Do you not yet see the blue battery on your iPhone or iPad? In that case, switch on the energy saving mode on the device. You do that under ‘Settings> Battery> Energy Saving mode’. With ‘smartly reversed’, the icon at the battery then gets a blue color. Is your iPhone or iPad on the charger and is the battery fully charged? Then a purple battery appears in the picture.

More tips
‘Smart reversed’ is a handy function for users with a visual impairment, but also ensures that a blue battery appears on the screen of your iPhone or iPad. Note, because almost all colors on the display are reversed with this function. As a result, you do not see many applications and other programs as you are used to. The colors of images, media and apps with a dark display are not vice versa.
Have you seen the blue battery on your iPhone or iPad, but then do you want to go back to the normal settings? Then go to ‘Settings> Accessibility> View and text size’ and turn off the switch behind ‘Slim inversely’. The colors are then shown in the normal display.
