BMW 4 Series Gran Coupé ready for debut

There it is again: the new BMW 4-series Gran Coupé. The five-door member of the 4-series family is gradually losing some of its camouflage material in the run-up to its public debut. The new 4-series Gran Coupé can be seen better than ever on this brand-new set of spy plates.

The 4 Series already consists of the 4 Series Coupé, the 4 Series Cabrio and the mighty M4 Coupé. In the long term, the open 4-series will also get a superlative M4 variant, but there is more to be done. BMW will expand the 4-series in the first half of next year with a new 4-series Gran Coupé, the more practical five-door alternative to the 4-series Coupé.

Just like the 4 Series Coupé and Cabrio, the 4 Series Gran Coupé also gets the pronounced kidney grille, a grille that is more visible on this packed test sample than before. The 4-series Gran Coupé looks, just like its three-door Coupé brother, relatively modest, although the more elongated body of the Gran Coupé makes for a less compact appearance. With the 4-series Gran Coupé, BMW is once again targeting cars like the Audi A5 Sportback.

The 4 Series Gran Coupé will soon be available with an extensive range of petrol and diesel engines, where powerful M Performance versions will provide the most power display. The previous 4-series Gran Coupé was not a full-fledged M-variant, so it is obvious that the 374 hp and 500 Nm strong M440i will function as the top version. New for the 4-series: an electric version. The BMW i4 will be a fully electric version of the 4-series Gran Coupé, a car that BMW already gave a fairly concrete preview with the Concept i4. Incidentally, the 3 series will also receive a fully electric version. That electric sedan will simply be called i3.
