In January BMW will pull the curtain on the M5 CS, the superlative that will still be given a place above the M5 Competition. The brand is already giving a taste of what’s to come!
For the M5 CS (Competition Sport), BMW M took the M5 Competition as its starting point. The sedan went on a diet and lost 70 pounds, which now puts it in 1,800 pounds. In addition, he gains some power. The twin-turbo V8 in the CS 635 delivers instead of 625 hp. Furthermore, the M5 CS has carbon-ceramic brake discs with red calipers behind its gold-colored wheels. Incidentally, that color also returns to the frame of the grille. Furthermore, the CS can of course be recognized by the necessary badges, including on the flanks and in the grille. To be recognizable in the dark, the LED daytime running lights illuminate in yellow.
Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW M, also reports that the carbon fiber bucket seats from the M3 and M4 (photo 5) can be found in the interior of the M5 CS. In addition, according to him, the CS is a ‘real four-seater’, which possibly means that the M5 CS in the back will have two more or less separate seats instead of a regular rear seat. All in all, BMW M takes a predictable approach for the M5 CS that is comparable to the M2 and M3 CS, although it is the first time that the M5 is available as a CS. Further details are not yet known, but it is expected that the chassis tuning of the über-M5 will also be a bit tougher. In addition, it is obvious that BMW will build it in a limited edition. Since an M5 Competition in the Netherlands must already yield € 173,474, it could just be that the M5 CS will cost more than € 200,000 here. The final unveiling will follow in January.
