BMW is working on an extra fierce version of the M4. Previously, that M4 ‘CSL’, as the model may be called, could already be seen on spy plates. Now BMW lets the model itself flash past uncamouflaged in a film in honor of the 50th anniversary of BMW M.
The website BMWBlog saw something special in the video: at one point a new M4 drives by with a ‘ducktail’ integrated into the tailgate as a spoiler. The camouflaged prototype already showed that the packaging around the trunk protruded slightly higher than normal, but the spoiler of the well-trained M4 can be seen really well in the video. This makes the name ‘CSL’ even more obvious: it is very reminiscent of the E46 M3 CSL, which had a similar integrated spoiler.
Apart from the spoiler, it is not yet clear which adjustments BMW has in store for the fierce M4. Another diffuser is obvious, although it is not clearly visible in the video. BMW does not yet show the front of the M4 variant that is in the pipeline. Based on the prototype spotted earlier, it is quite possible that BMW has a different layout for the grille and front bumper in store.
Technical details of the M4 CSL are not yet known, but of course the blown 3.0 in-line six will have more power than the 510 hp of the M4 Competition. In addition, the weight will also be lower than the 1,700 kilos that a standard M4 puts in the shell. BMW is expected to pull the curtain on the M4 CSL later this year, which will replace the GTS and CS of the previous model.
