BMW iX: engine versions and prices announced

The fully electric BMW iX will be at Dutch dealers at the end of this year. BMW is now highlighting the two engine variants with which the car will be available and will immediately announce the prices.

At the end of 2020, BMW presented the iX to the world, a fully electric SUV with a striking appearance and promising specifications. The technological banner of Munich was presented in one version, with two 500 hp electric motors together. Now the two-version iX offer is known, including prices. The electric iX is marketed as xDrive40 and as xDrive50. Both have four-wheel drive.

iX xDrive40

The BMW iX xDrive 40 has 300 hp and sprints to a speed of 100 km / h in about 6 seconds. The battery pack of the iX xDrive40 has a gross capacity of about 70 kWh, which means that it can reach about 400 kilometers on a charge. According to BMW, the average power consumption of this version is less than 21 kWh / 100 km. The maximum charging capacity is 150 kW.

The starting price of the iX xDrive40 is minimal € 86,972. In terms of price, this is comparable to the BMW X5, which is about as large as the plug-in hybrid xDrive45e. By way of comparison: the Audi E-tron, also some 4.9 meters long, has a 50 quattro, the 313 hp basic version with a 71 kWh battery pack, for a starting price of € 67,705. The 408 hp E-tron 55 quattro with 95 kWh battery changes owner from € 71,505, while the 504 hp E-tron S quattro with 95 kWh battery has a starting price of € 85,116.

iX xDrive50

The xDrive50 is the provisional top version of the iX range. The two electric motors in the iX xDrive50 provide a system power of 500 hp. With that he thunders to 100 km / h in less than five seconds. The battery pack has a gross capacity of 100 kWh, which means that the top version should be able to reach a range of more than 600 kilometers. The average power consumption is less than 20 kWh / 100 km, according to BMW. The battery pack can be replenished with electricity with a maximum charging capacity of 200 kW.

BMW asks minimal € 105,472 for the iX xDrive50. Those who choose an X5 with such an amount, will end up with the price-technically comparable X5 xDrive40d.

Equipment

The iX is the first BMW to feature the new iDrive system. The electric SUV also has a large curved panel that includes a 12.3-inch instrumentation and a 14.9-inch infotainment screen. Separate climate control over four zones is standard. Optionally, the iX comes with wood and even crystal finish. There is also a large electrochromatic and thus automatically darkening glass panoramic roof on the option list.
