We could already see from the leaked images of the car that the new BMW 4-series gets a very large grille. Now BMW itself also no longer disguises it.
Six months ago, BMW unveiled the Concept 4 in Frankfurt. A car that broadly showed what we can expect from the upcoming 4-series. The most striking was without a doubt the very large grille for BMW concepts, where the two ‘kidneys’ are joined together. It kind of loosened the tongues. Some critics were hoping that it would become less extreme on the production model, but at the beginning of this year, all that hope was lost after a leaked photo of the new 4-series.
Although BMW with its camouflaged test-4 series still made an attempt to hide the grille somewhat, the brand has now also given up. The most recent photos of a passing prototype clearly show that the grille is indeed there. We also see the layout of the front bumper better now. At the rear, it is still packaged fairly the same as before.
The new 4-series will probably be delayed until the beginning of next year. In terms of engines, the range probably starts at least with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 156 hp. At the very top of the range is the 3.0-liter six-in-line that will also serve in the M4. The most powerful version reportedly delivers around 480 horsepower. Both rear and four-wheel drive are options with various drivelines. Of course there will also be a 4-series Cabriolet. It also passed as a test car.
