In two years, BMW will introduce its first of a new series of electric cars it calls the Neue Klasse. BMW expects a lot from those EVs of the Neue Klasse family. According to CEO Oliver Zipse, they must set a new standard in various aspects.

BMW unveiled the i Vision Dee at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The BMW i Vision Dee was a colorful signboard of what BMW is going to do in its electric future. In addition, the study model also served as a hint to the arrival of an electric equivalent of the 3-series that will be on the market in 2025. This electric sedan, together with an electric SUV, forms the first two in a series of completely new electric cars from BMWs New Class. Of course, BMW CEO Oliver Zipse can only be positive about this, but the CEO expects a lot from it.

In front of Automotive News, Zipse says, among other things, that the electric equivalent of the 3-series along with the other cars on the Neue Klasse architecture “[…] become the benchmark when it comes to range, charging speed and price.” Quite a claim.

Whether BMW will succeed in setting a new standard in EV land? We won’t find out until 2025 when the first Neue Klasse models come on the market. We know, among other things, that BMW’s new electric models will have battery cells with greater energy density and can charge up to 30 percent faster and offer up to 30 percent more range than the brand’s current electric models.
