BMW looks at the calendar and sees today as the perfect day to make a special announcement: the brand will stop flashing lights on its cars. Self-mockery elevated to an art!
On April 1, numerous car manufacturers put on their joke dress and of course not every joke is worth an extensive treatment. Later today we will explain all the jokes that have passed in review today, but BMW’s entry deserved special attention as far as we are concerned. The brand has announced in a slick video (see below) that it will stop flashing lights on its cars.
BMW ‘found on it interwebs‘that a lot of jokes are made about BMW drivers who apparently find their turn signal a completely unnecessary part, so the brand decided to join in. Apparently, turn signals are not seen as a necessary part of a BMW and so BMW will put ‘2022 through it’. According to BMW, this also serves a higher purpose, because ‘then fewer parts are needed and we waste less raw materials, so that is good for our planet’. Nicely argued! Until new BMWs are delivered without flashing lights, the manufacturer recommends using them anyway. We can only agree.
