BMW X1 M35i

The BMW X1 has a new sporty top model. Meet the BMW X1 M35i, an M Performance version that only has to tolerate two other variants in terms of power.

BMW supplies the X1 with various powertrains. There is a regular petrol model (sDrive18i), there are mild hybrid petrol flavours, plug-in hybrids, diesels and even a fully electric variant: the iX1. The most powerful plug-in hybrid is called xDrive30e and produces a system power of 326 hp. The electric iX1 is also strong (313 hp) thanks to two electric motors. BMW is now pulling the curtain on a new sporty top variant of the X1: the 300 hp powerful X1 M35i.

The X1 M35i is therefore not the most powerful X1, but it is the sportiest. After all, it is an M Performance version and that means you have to have it if you want to be able to drive more than just very fast in a straight line. The BMW X1 squeezes the 300 hp and 400 Nm from a new 2.0 four-cylinder. That blown petrol engine is linked to a seven-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and helps the X1 M35i from standstill to 100 km / h in 5.4 seconds. Its top speed is 250 km/h.

No sporty M Performance variant without a specifically tuned and adaptive M chassis and so you will also find that under this M35i. The four-wheel drive SUV is available with M Compound brakes for an additional fee. The X1 M35i is the first M Performance model to be purchased with such brakes. A mechanical limited slip differential is also available. The BMW X1 M35i is 1.5 centimeters closer to the asphalt than the regular models. Speed-sensitive Sport Steering power steering is also standard.

From the outside you can of course recognize the BMW X1 M35i by its sportier-looking bumper work all around, its grille with horizontal double bars and M logo and the two sets of double exhaust tailpipes. The X1 M35i stands on 19-inch M wheels. 20-inch slippers are available at extra cost. M Sports seats with illuminated M logos are optional.

Dutch prices are not yet available. The European market launch is in November.
