The BMW X2 was unveiled this week as a petrol version and as an electric (i)X2, but we could not yet show it without the M package. Now it is, and the prices of two non-electric versions are also known.

Where an optical ‘dress-up package’ such as an M Sport package was once something for the enthusiast, it is now increasingly the norm. The marketing department also knows this, so after the 5-series we initially saw the X2 only with M decoration. This includes different bumpers, painted fender edges, special wheels and some logos and therefore has quite an effect on the appearance of the X2.

Thanks to the configurator, which is now online, we can show you what the X2 looks like without the M Sport package. We see different, slightly more calmly shaped bumpers, more matte black accents around wheel arches and bumpers and smaller wheels. The iX2 (here in red) is slightly smaller than the regular X2: the ones shown measure 17 inches, all other available wheels are 18-inch. The 17-inch models also have a more streamlined shape. At the front, the iX2 has a different, naturally closed ‘grille’.

Diesel

In this case, the ‘regular X2’ is an sDrive18d, the first diesel whose existence we can confirm. The BMW It can accelerate from 0-100 in 8.9 seconds and the top speed is 210 kilometers per hour. The fact that the diesel X2 will not be a runner in the Netherlands is also due to the price: it costs at least €59,051. This makes it almost as expensive as the four-wheel drive, 313 hp and fully electric iX2 xDrive30. For approximately this amount you can also opt for the sDrive20i with 170 hp, which is available as a big Launch Edition for €60,451. You can bet that cheaper 20i’s will appear in the future.

While we’re at it, we can also present you the price of the petrol-fired top version. The BMW X1 M35i costs €83,739 and not only has standard M furnishings, but also unique M exterior mirrors, special wheels and four exhausts.

Update: the SDrive20i is cheaper

BMW on the line: the SDrive20i Launch Edition is also available without M Sport and costs considerably less than what we say above: €52,340. Apologies!
