The Philips Hue app has finally received support for Siri Shortcuts. This makes operating your smart Hue lights a piece of cake.
Siri Shortcuts support for Philips Hue available
Philips announced Siri Shortcuts support for the Hue app back in August at the IFA technology show in Berlin. The latest update finally includes this support, making operating your smart lamps even easier.
Especially good news for people who do not have a HomePod at home, but do have smart lamps. For HomePod owners, it was already possible to control Hue light sources via Siri. The most important thing about this update is that you can also combine your lamps with other apps without a smart hub.

Siri monitors light
Siri will now keep track of when you switch on your favorite scenes in the app. At these times, the voice assistant provides suggestions for quickly activating the light scenes. These suggestions appear on your lock screen, in the Siri Suggestions overview, and – if you have an Apple Watch – also on the Siri watch face.
It is also possible to build a Siri Shortcut with a personal voice command to start scenes. Even more convenient: combine the light assignment with other actions. For example, link a playlist on Apple Music or Spotify with a particular light scene, and let Siri open the Untappd app at the same time, for a special beer night shortcut.
For Siri Shortcuts support to work, you do need the V2 version of the Hue Bridge. A bridge links all lamps and associated accessories together, so that they can be controlled per room or situation. In addition to the Siri addition, the update for the Philips Hue app also includes the option to adjust notifications you receive about new products and features.
