Designer says goodbye

Bugatti Chiron successor ready for unveiling in 2024

The car that will succeed the Bugatti Chiron is ready and will be unveiled in 2024. That says the designer of the car, Achim Anscheidt, to the British Autocar. The successor to the Chiron will no longer get a W16, but a hybrid powertrain with a V8 that will again be ‘comparable to nothing else’.

Next year we will know how Bugatti wants to imitate its Veyron and Chiron, and then without dusting off its W16 block. Achim Anscheidt – designer of various Veyron variants, the Chiron and the upcoming all-new Bugatti – confirms this to Autocar. At the same time, he announces his departure as the brand’s head of design after 19 years. The 60-year-old Anscheidt will remain connected to Bugatti; he will become a senior advisor to CEO Mate Rimac.

Anscheidt did not sign for the original Bugatti Veyron, but for the Veyron SuperSport, the Chiron and all kinds of variants that followed later. The four-door Bugatti Galibier, which ultimately never saw the light of day, also came from Anscheidt’s pen. The Chiron successor is his latest achievement as head of design, so all special editions that will follow will come from someone else’s pen.

Bugatti is giving very little information about its next all-new model, other than the launch year and the composition of the powertrain: a V8 with hybrid power. It is expected to be another two-seater car with a mid-engine that is again more GT than supercar. Bugatti also says that the car will not be comparable to any other car, so we are very curious about what they have made of it.
