If you love extremely expensive, exclusive and fast cars, it would be wise to circle May 31 in the calendar. Then Bugatti has something to tell us about the La Voiture Noire.
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire dates back to early 2019. Then Bugatti pulled the curtain on this very extreme creation, which got even more insane when we heard about Bugatti’s ‘plans’. It would be a one-off commissioned by a darling customer who was willing to pay as much as € 11 million for it. This immediately made the La Voiture Noire the most expensive new car ever. It was rumored at the time that none other than Volkswagen Group celebrity Ferdinand Piëch would become the lucky owner of the Bugatti. After all, Piëch is no longer among us and it has remained almost completely silent since then around the La Voiture Noire.
But now Bugatti breaks the silence. On Instagram, Bugatti has been going all out for several days with photos of the hypercar, which can be seen in various places in Paris. From the poetic descriptions of the photos, we get little wiser, until the last photo, where Bugatti says ‘see you on May 31’. Then we can expect the unveiling of the La Voiture Noire in its final form and we will undoubtedly also get more information about what it should cost exactly and whether the La Voiture Noire is indeed only a one-off for an extraordinarily wealthy customer.
Bugatti La Voiture Noire and Type 57 SC Atlantic
What we still know from 2019 is that the La Voiture Noire has the famous W16 of the Chiron as its beating heart. So count on at least 1,500 hp power and undoubtedly a top speed that significantly exceeds 400 km / h. The La Voiture Noire also has the necessary similarities with the Chiron and the Divo, but according to Bugatti it is inspired by the Type 57 SC Atlantic from the 1930s shown above. It is considered the most expensive classic of all time, so in that respect the exorbitant price of La Voiture Noire also historically justified.
