Busy on the road due to winter sports over the coming weekends

Due to winter sports enthusiasts, the ANWB expects major holiday crowds on the roads in southern Germany, Belgium, France and Austria next Saturday and Sunday and the following weekend.

Not only abroad, but also from the Netherlands, there is expected to be a lot of traffic on its way to winter sports areas next weekend. The Northern Netherlands will be the first region to receive spring break this weekend, while the Central and Southern Netherlands will follow the week after.

Winter sports enthusiasts in Germany have to take into account traffic jams on the A7 Ulm-Füssen, the A8 Stuttgart-Salzburg, the A9 Nuremberg-Munich, the A10 Salzburg-Villach and the B179 Füssen-Nassereithin. In France it will be traffic jams east of Lyon, according to the ANWB. The last kilometers to a winter sports destination also take a lot of time.

It will also be very busy on the road on Friday 25 or Saturday 26 February. The ANWB advises to always check the current traffic information on the route before departure.

Are you also going south for a winter sports holiday? Then it is wise to read the rules and advice carefully. For example, in many countries there are obligations in the field of winter tires, different traffic rules apply abroad and there are even more things to prepare for.
