BYD has so far only sold electric passenger cars in the Netherlands, but importer Louwman is now also focusing on electric company cars from the brand. This is the BYD ETP3, an electric van with a range of about 240 kilometers.

That there are various name families within BYD is easy to explain. In its home country China it carries various ‘model lines’ and from each series importer Louwman gets cars for the Dutch market. There is now a new model name to get used to: ETP3.

The BYD ETP3 is not an electric passenger car, but a fully electric van. The ETP3 is not a brand new model, as the commercial vehicle was already presented in 2014 as an M3 and a year later as an electric T3. Undoubtedly, BMW and Volkswagen in Europe are not happy to hear those model names. The BYD ETP3 is 4.46 meters long and 1.72 meters wide. Although the ETP3 is more of a ‘van’ than, for example, a Volkswagen Caddy, it is shorter than the shortest version (4.5 meters) of that German orderer. In addition, it is considerably narrower. Handy for busy city centers. The load volume is still 3.5 cubic meters, the load capacity is 805 kilos. The BYD ETP3 has a sliding door on both the left and right and the cargo area has a non-slip floor and pull buckles.
The BYD ETP3 has a 136 hp and 180 Nm strong electric motor. The ETP3 is logically not a speed demon. Its top speed is 100 km/h and the ETP3 reaches 100 km/h from standstill in 13 seconds. There is a 44.9-kWh Blade Battery (cobalt and nickel-free) in the bottom, which helps the electric commercial vehicle to have a range of 238 kilometers. Fast charging is possible up to 50 kW.

The BYD ETP3 costs €28,490 in the Netherlands. As standard you get 16-inch alloy wheels, Keyless Entry, a reversing camera, rear parking sensors, automatic climate control, heated seats, electrically adjustable and heated exterior mirrors, an instrument panel with a 5-inch LCD screen, artificial leather upholstery and an infotainment system with a 7-inch display.
