‘European’ and young, yet extremely rare

High time to reduce the average age of the cars in ‘In the Wild’ again. This certainly works with this Cadillac ATS Coupé, which is very special and rare despite its year of birth in 2015.
The fact that this ATS coupe is worth this article is in itself special. This is a car that was officially available in the Netherlands not so long ago. At least: it was announced, we tested it and it had a Dutch price tag. This specific copy was imported, but was delivered new in Europe. The absence of orange ‘side markers’ reveals this, as does the large license plate holder on the front bumper.
The Cadillac ATS appeared as a sedan in 2012 and is quite compact for a Cadillac. It can be seen as a competitor for the BMW 3-series and Mercedes-Benz C-class, although it has never been able to break ground in that area in Europe. The coupe version appeared in 2014. According to our own sales information, a total of 2 ATSs were ‘sold’ in the Netherlands – including the sedan. That sold is between quotes, because it probably concerns two demos that were only actually sold after their service to the importer. The coupe version of the ATS appeared in 2014. This black two-door, spotted by Jeroen Elbertse, still looks fresh and sleek and has a very un-American engine. The modest two-liter produces 276 hp thanks to a turbo and drags the coupe from 0 to 100 in 6.2 seconds. Indeed a great alternative to something like a BMW 330i, but it was all to no avail.
Cadillac will soon open its attack on Europe again, this time with the fully electric Lyriq. The chance that it will be more successful than the ATS is already very high.
