California says it will tighten the sales rules for new passenger cars. Governor Gavin Newsom has put an end date on the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles.

Now is the time for a new ‘country’, because the governor of the US state of California has according to Carscoops issued a new executive order. That order states that all new cars sold must be emission-free by 2035. The sale of new cars on gasoline or diesel will then no longer be tolerated in the state. In addition, alternative powertrains, such as plug-in hybrids, are no longer tolerated. Used cars with fuel engines may still be sold.
The ‘green party’ is not over yet, because the same rule will be set for ‘medium to heavy vehicles’ from 2045. By this the Americans mean vans and trucks. The governor says the transportation industry is responsible for more than half of all California’s carbon pollution, 80 percent of smog, and 95 percent of toxic diesel fumes.
