CarPlay in iOS 26
Do you have a car with support for CarPlay? In that case you will soon get many new functions, because Apple brings 26 major changes to CarPlay with iOS. The operating system will have a new interface, in which Apple Liquid introduces Glass. This makes many glass elements appear and apps get a new layout. This new layout even ensures that CarPlay becomes safer to use.
Apple has given almost all screens in CarPlay a new design or new layout. One is the screen that appears when you call through CarPlay. Where a telephone conversation is still displayed on the complete display, this is no longer the case from iOS 26. Instead, you will receive a smaller report that appears at the bottom of the image. Calling via CarPlay
Do you get a telephone call, while your iPhone is connected to CarPlay? Or do you start a telephone conversation yourself? Then you can continue to use other applications from iOS 26. A transparent menu bar appears in the latest software version at the bottom of the image, in which the telephone conversation is displayed. That is much safer, because that way you don’t have to tap the conversation manually in CarPlay.
The new layout is especially useful if you use other applications during the telephone conversation. With iOS 18 or earlier, they disappear behind the telephone call, but with iOS 26 they remain in the picture. This way you can continue to follow the navigation while calling, because the card app is not concluded by the telephone conversation. In this way iOS 26 CarPlay makes you safer again.

With iOS 26 not only major changes come to the iPhone, CarPlay is also improved. Calling in CarPlay is safer from iOS 26, but that is not nearly everything. The operating system receives support for AirPlay, so that you can play videos for the first time via CarPlay. This is only possible if the car is parked to prevent the driver from becoming distracted while driving.
In addition, with iOS 26 widgets come to CarPlay, so you have many more functions within reach. That also makes CarPlay safer, because you no longer have to look for applications.
