The Central Bureau for Driving Certificates (CBR) is working on solutions to take exams again, despite the corona crisis. Theory exams must be possible again with sufficient distance between candidates and work is also being done on a way to hold driving exams again.
Due to the spread of the coronavirus, it is no longer possible to take driving exams. Theory exams have also been halted, because in the existing form this was no longer in line with the measures. In conversation with De Telegraaf, CBR director Alexander Pechtold explains that solutions have since been devised. For example, theoretical exams should be possible again by keeping sufficient distance. “We are fully geared to the one and a half meter society,” says Pechtold. The director indicates that the spaces will be set up to continue at half capacity. According to him, this is possible immediately from April 29, provided that government measures allow it.
Driving exams are a trickier story, because the guideline of one and a half meters cannot be observed in a car. According to Pechtold, however, a possible solution has also been found for this. A ‘foil’ between the examiner and the examination candidate must counter the risk of contamination. It is not clear how this can prevent contamination from occurring during a steering intervention by the examiner.
