‘Cheaper’ Citroën C3 emerges as a scale model

It has been a while since a completely new model debuted as a scale model. Today that is about to change. Citroën has a budget model intended for the Indian market in any case, which can be seen from all angles in miniature form.

Photos of a new scale model from manufacturer Norev are circulating through various social channels. It is a miniature version of a forthcoming newcomer from Citroën, a budget model that will in any case be on the market in India and would be internally codenamed C21. That code name is exchanged for a model name that we have known for a long time: C3.

Spyshots Citroën ‘C21’

This ‘budget C3’ is not the successor of the C3 as you can buy it in the Netherlands. At least, it doesn’t seem like it. This Indian Citroen C3 seems to be a compact crossover in the style of cars like the Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Nissan Magnite, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300. We are aiming for the Indian Citroën C3 to be shorter than four meters, just like those cars, in order to qualify for tax benefits in India. Don’t be surprised if this C3 will also find its way to South American markets.

This budget C3 probably uses a version of Stellantis’ CMP platform, a modular base already found under cars like the Peugeot 208 and 2008, DS3 Crossback, Citroen C4, Opel Corsa and Opel Mokka. The C3 that Citroën sells in Europe is, like the Opel Crossland and C3 Aircross, the only one of its European Stellantis brothers that is still on the predecessor of the CMP platform. The Citroën C3, launched in 2016, was facelifted last year, which means that the model is in the autumn of its career. The successor to ‘our’ C3 will undoubtedly be based on CMP. So you can also count on an electrical version thereof. The Citroën C3, intended for at least India, will be unveiled soon and is one of the three models that the brand wants to market in the coming years. Citroën currently only sells the C5 Aircross in India.
