Cheaper iPhone 17e coming soon: this is the expected price

The affordable iPhone 16e became quite popular last year. It is therefore no surprise that Apple is once again launching an affordable iPhone this year: the iPhone 17e. Here’s what we know about it so far!

MagSafe

The biggest shortcoming of the iPhone 16e is undoubtedly MagSafe. Although you can charge the device wirelessly, it is not possible to click it into place in the right place. Apple solves that annoyance with the iPhone 17e, because it is expected to have MagSafe. Wireless charging goes from 7.5 watts to 15 watts thanks to MagSafe, so that is a lot faster. You can also do a lot more thanks to MagSafe accessories to use.

Dynamic Island

Another thing missing from the iPhone 16e is the Dynamic Island. The iPhone 16e still had an ‘old-fashioned’ notch at the top of the screen. This is also a thing of the past with the arrival of the iPhone 17e, which will probably have the housing of the iPhone 15. The iPhone 17e does get a Dynamic Island and therefore looks a lot more modern.

Center Stage selfie camera

The selfie camera of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro (Max) has been upgraded with Center Stage. This makes it easier to automatically stay in the picture and you no longer have to rotate your iPhone for a horizontal photo. This selfie camera is also reportedly coming to the iPhone 17e.

A19 chip

As usual, a new iPhone also gets a new chip. The iPhone 16e runs on an A18 chip. That is a lightning-fast chip, especially for such a relatively cheap iPhone. Yet Apple has gone one step further with the iPhone 17e, because it has an A19 chip.

Price and release iPhone 17e

As mentioned, we expect the iPhone 17e about a year after the launch of the iPhone 16e, so that is around February 20 – we also expect a comparable price: 719 euros.

The iPhone 17e will therefore be a lot cheaper than the iPhone 17 (from Apple from 969 euros). This means that you have to make some concessions with the iPhone 17e compared to the iPhone 17.
