Cheapest Lucid Air has price

The Lucid Air is a car that, at least on paper, is very promising to date. Whether the promises will be fulfilled in practice remains to be seen, but in terms of price Lucid keeps her word!

Lucid said several times in the run-up to the introduction of the Air that the car in its simplest version would cost ‘less than $ 80,000’. The entry-level version of the Lucid Air, simply called ‘Air’, has now received an American award. Indeed, that price is clear: in the US, the price (including taxes) is $ 77,400. That is converted to € 65,847. Lucid has yet to announce the exact Dutch price. With a deposit of € 900 you can already order the Air here.

The cheapest Air has 480 electric horsepower at its disposal and Lucid serves an expected range of more than 650 km. Please note; that is based on the EPA test method. Generally, the WLTP cycle we conduct is more positive (and often slightly less realistic). In terms of range, the entry-level vehicle is just as well endowed as the more luxurious and more powerful ‘Air Touring’, which puts 620 hp in the scale. Exact specifications of the least powerful Air are not yet known. The most powerful variant for now (‘Air Dream’, with 1,030 hp) shoots to 96 km / h (60 mph) in just 2.5 seconds. In terms of battery technology, it will probably remain about the same, so that means that with fast charging you can charge about 32 km per minute.

Those interested in the cheapest Air will still have to be patient. The market introduction is planned for 2022. Whether it will be the turn of the Netherlands that year remains to be seen. With a range of more than 600 km and such a price, the Lucid Air is at least on paper what Lucid says about it every time: a ‘direct attack on the Tesla Model S’. The US price of the Air is just over $ 5,000 above that of the entry-level Model S, the Long Range Plus. However, you get a much more modern car for that, which promises to degrade the Tesla in terms of charging speed. The power is considerably lower, although the question is how much ‘slower’ the entry-level Air is. Incidentally, there may be a tax benefit of $ 7,500 for the Air in the US, making the car about $ 2,000 cheaper in its home country than the Model S. Anyway, see then believe. In any case, it is interesting.
