Chevrolet Corvette Stingray winks at racing brother

Chevrolet has presented a special series of the Corvette Stingray. It listens to the name Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. A true tongue twister.

Chevrolet is making a tiny model year update to the 2019-launched Corvette Stingray. Three new exterior colors are available and the rear spoiler previously only available on the Z51 trim level is now available on all other Corvette trim levels. Chevrolet says it has recalibrated the 6.2 V8, although that does not yield any power gains. The model year update goes hand in hand with the launch of a limited edition with a long name: the Corvette Stingray IMSA GTLM Championship Edition. Say that ten times in a row?

With this, Chevrolet celebrates last year’s success on various tracks with the Corvette C8.R IMSA GTLM. That racing version won a total of six races in the GT Le Mans class of the US WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The special edition, of which Chevrolet will make 1,000 pieces, will include yellow brake calipers, a rear spoiler, special black wheels and carbon fiber side mirrors. Outside, the special edition is covered in a livery similar to that of the racing ‘Vette. They will have an interior in gray and yellow, complete with GT2 seats with yellow belts. The additional cost of the festive package amounts to € 5,420.

The Stingray (C8), now about two years old, is the first Corvette to have its engine not in the nose, but behind the front seats. The Coupé has a removable hard roof, the Convertible, on the other hand, actually has a soft top.
