30 grand. It seems like a lot of money, but nowadays you can pay it for a Polo with a color. Dacia is of course a refreshing exception in this area, but elsewhere you will find at most a reasonably equipped compact hatchback for this amount. Car manufacturers like to avoid oddities due to pressure on margins, especially in this price segment. You can keep looking for small coupes or convertibles and if you want something special, you have to pay at least 45 grand for an EV like the Hyundai Ioniq 6. Or… or you go to Citroën and order a C4 the C4 was initially only available as an EV, but is also ‘normal’ with a 1.2 Puretech petrol engine and a manual gearbox on the Dutch price lists. We can’t possibly call it beautiful, but with that enormous ass and slightly high-legged carriage, it is certainly interesting. The Citroën C4 a huge ass. As is the case with rarities, it is difficult to identify a competitor for this C4. It doesn’t help that the car floats a bit between two segments: it is too big to be a Polo competitor, but is still below the Golf. Add to that the high sedan shape and you have a truly unique offer, with a fairly competitive price for its size. For the pleasure of that strange ‘X’ body shape you pay €900 extra. In addition, you give up the handy large tailgate, but with 510 versus 380 liters, the X offers much more space than a hatchback under the parcel shelf.

No Advanced Comfort Seats

Anyone who orders such a C4 It is only available in one version, the ‘You’. The automatic version is only available as Plus and Max, with the associated significantly higher prices. Compared to the Plus, a You does without an adjustable luggage compartment floor, without navigation and without LED headlights. In addition, the interior of the You is covered with a simpler fabric, missing Advanced Comfort Seats with which Citroën is making waves and the You does not have electrically folding exterior mirrors. More striking (literally) is the fact that the handles of the entry-level version are not painted in the body color, which is uni-white without an additional charge. A C4

Despite everything the You doesn’t have, fortunately it also has a lot. In that category we would like to mention the automatic climate control, the cruise control, the center armrest, the parking sensors, the 10-inch touchscreen and the chassis with ‘progressive hydraulic cushions’ technology, although this works considerably less well in the C4 than in larger models. The 18-inch wheels are also available in size, although they are steel ones with hubcaps.
