Cloudflare has released an iOS app for its internet service 1.1.1.1. With this you can easily use the internet with more privacy on your iPhone or iPad. We show you how it works.
Browsing without peeps with the Cloudfare iOS app
The American company Cloudflare has had its own DNS service for some time, and is now releasing the app version of it. With the app, the administrator of a (WiFi) network cannot see which websites you visit from your iPhone or iPad. Moreover, the Cloudflare server is a lot faster, so you surf the web much smoother.
The app, 1.1.1.1, encrypts your DNS requests. A DNS request (domain name system) is sent when you open a website in your browser. By default, this goes via the DNS servers of your internet provider, so that they can also view your data and even sell it as valuable data to online advertisers, for example.
With a DNS service such as 1.1.1.1, you can switch that off and everything is sent securely via Cloudflare’s own, free server. This way you have a lot more privacy while surfing the internet. Especially when you are regularly connected to a public WiFi network, 1.1.1.1 is recommended.

Privacy switch
In such situations, with an app like this you ensure that your privacy is guaranteed and that others cannot simply view or abuse your surfing behavior. To encrypt DNS requests, you must first install a VPN profile via the app.
The app sets this up itself after permission, so that you can browse securely almost immediately. Then turn on the switch and you can surf the internet privately. You can also see from the VPN icon in the top bar of your iOS device that you are currently connected to the Cloudflare service.

You simply turn off the service by swiping the switch off again. When 1.1.1.1 is enabled, other VPN apps on your iPhone or iPad will not work.
In addition to the fact that the app is very simple, it ensures that your internet sessions load noticeably faster. Loading websites takes less time, which makes looking up something on the internet much smoother.
