Life is never boring at John Vanderaart. Enough is happening to deliver a short column every week. This time it’s about a power strip. His previous column about sauerkraut, the hall of events and internet you can read here.

At home we have a long kitchen table with eight chairs. This kitchen table is used very intensively by us. In fact: “We’re actually always on it.” Partly for this reason, the kitchen table is equipped with sockets; albeit somewhat hidden under the table top. This is useful, because then mobile phones and tablets can be charged while eating.

But gradually all kinds of rechargeable stuff is added. Such as the battery of my wife’s e-bike, such as my hybrid laptop, such as my daughter’s MacBook (when she comes over again), and so on. We are now short of sockets. Likewise, in the meantime, my wife has purchased heated gloves and a special kitchen table greenhouse. She also received a second mobile phone from work. My son actually has a new girlfriend, complete with mobile phone and earbuds. I have to keep an entire orphanage electrified by now! So I’m going to get started with special power strips that you can conveniently screw to the kitchen table. In order to go from 1 x 220 Volt to 3 x 220 Volt and 2 x USB. You have to do something to keep everyone happy.
