The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is the impressive king of the Corvettes in terms of power, but not for long. The ‘regular’ Corvette Stingray, with a larger but milder V8, can make the Z06 pale thanks to Hennessey.

Hennessey Performance regularly provides a wonderful contrast to all the electrical news of today. So again, because they went all out on the Chevrolet Corvette Stingray. The most common Corvette C8 has recently had to tolerate the new Corvette E-Ray and of course the Corvette Z06 for some time now. Not that owners of a Corvette Stingray have much to complain about, by the way: the 6.2-liter V8 that resides in the middle of the C8 already delivers a very useful 497 hp and 630 Nm from the factory. If you don’t think that’s enough, you can now turn to Hennessey Performance for a particularly strong boost of extra power.

Hennessey drags, hold on, 718 hp power and 865 Nm of torque from the V8. This amply exceeds the 670 hp and 623 Nm that the 5.5 V8 from the Z06 mobilizes. A big caveat to that comparison is that that 5.5 is a naturally aspirated engine and Hennessey provides the 6.2 with a big supercharger to make it so strong, with an air intake system with an air-to-water intercooler. Custom engine software is also included, as is a (optional) new exhaust system. Thanks to the latter, the Corvette makes its V8 growl sound extra rude. Great that it’s still possible, isn’t it? Well in the US, anyway. There you will have to pay about €32,000 for this upgrade.
