Cars in the price range from € 20,000 to € 40,000: the choice is enormous. The division into models and country of origin of these models is perhaps even greater. Car manufacturers around the world participate in this edition of the Lease Top 10. Which C-segment models attract the most business drivers?
Four German models in the top 10
Volkswagen’s ID.3, the EV of the Year 2021, also takes first place here and is the most popular business car of the past six months. In the previous edition, the VW Polo (4) competed in the lower category to € 20,000 and took first place there. Due to the recent price increase, this popular Volkswagen model falls into the middle segment and therefore stands its ground here too.
The Volkswagen Golf (7) should of course not be missing, we find this model time and again. This time, Volkswagen has upgraded the cockpit and the car is the first model to be delivered with Car2X technology. The Skoda Octavia (10) closes the ranks in the top 10. These four German models together account for 43% of registrations in the top 10.
Asian countries are increasingly present
The success of the Kia Niro (2) as the best-selling model in 2020 will continue in 2021. The complete equipment, together with the choice of hybrid, PHEV and all-electric drive, is very appealing to the business driver. The Asians deliver another comparable compact SUV with almost the same features, the Hyundai Kona (5).
Toyota comes with its own safety innovation: the Corolla (9) comes with Safety Sense 2. According to Toyota, you not only protect yourself, but also your environment with this system. The sportier look that was already visible in the Yaris, we also see in the Corolla. This resulted in more than 2,000 registrations for Toyota in the past six months.
Asia supplies 30% of the business registered cars, the Kia Niro is responsible for half of this 30 percent.
62% of European soil
A total of 35,463 business registrations were made in the top 10 over the past six months. 62% of this is of European origin. At Volvo in Sweden they have listened carefully to their customers, Volvo has put these findings into the new XC40 (3) and this results in a top 3 position. Eighth place is reserved for Peugeot’s 2008. We already saw the innovation of the Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D in the 208 and it is also doing very well among business drivers.
The US has one car brand that serves the business European market in this segment. Ford supplies approximately 8% of the cars in this top 10 with the Focus (6). The Focus is the first model to be built on the C2 platform. This platform provides more security and space. Together with the human-centric design language, this Ford has been created to provide a rich, interactive user experience.
