Among the programs that provide information about the hard drive, CrystalDiskInfo stands out for its extensive functionality.
It gives you a lot of information about mechanical (traditional) hard drives, but also about SSDs. CrystalDiskInfo makes extensive use of graphs to visualize the data about the health and performance of the disks. On the website of the makers, overviews are kept of which disks and controllers are supported. Of course, such disk analysis programs are only really useful if they also notify you of anomalies so that you can react to them. In the software you can set a notification, so that you are notified of important events. This can be sent by e-mail, but can also be displayed as a notification in the system tray of the Windows taskbar (bottom right of the screen).
You can also request a total overview of the activities of the disks via the log. Via the general information page, you can request the most important characteristics of the disk, such as current temperature, but also which firmware is used and how many hours the disk has been in use. You can copy most of the data to the clipboard, for example to share with the manufacturer or a helpdesk in case of problems.
