Cupra Formentor caught in production form

Around this time last year, the Cupra soaked from Seat pulled the curtain off the Formentor Concept, a car whose production version can now be seen in a test suit.

We currently know the Cupra Ateca and Leon (Sportstourer) as potent models, but those are clearly still Seats with other logos on the front and back. At the Geneva Motor Show last year, Cupra gave a clear signal with the Formentor Concept. The brand also wants to sell more of its own models and that will happen. The espionage photos show the production version of that Formentor.

Cupra Formentor

The Formentor seems to be a crossover that has been injected with a healthy dose of sportiness. The slick lined high legged gets a nose in which apparently the necessary influences of the Tarraco and new Leon can be seen. At the back we find a lightbar that extends over the full width. It is not yet entirely clear what exactly the production version will drive. The Formentor Concept was a plug-in hybrid with a 245 hp powertrain built from a 1.4 TSI and an electric motor. The car should be able to travel some 50 kilometers electrically. It is not inconceivable that Cupra will also deliver a petrol version of the car. We expect the market launch of the Formentor this year.
