The BMW M3 Touring as it now exists seems to be a special model. After all, the fantastic station wagon is only a year old, but will soon receive a subtle facelift. That means the current model is likely to become a rarity later on. These spy photos not only show the facelifted BMW M3 Touring, but also its sedan brother.
There are queues for the BMW cutting tables. The 1 series will soon go under the knife, the 2 series Gran Coupé will receive a facelift and the 3 and 4 series will also be tightened in a relatively short period of time. Not only the ‘conventional’ 3-series is waiting for a refresh, BMW is also polishing the hot-tempered M3s. That will soon give the current M3 Touring a special status. That car was presented a year ago and will not be on the Dutch price list until September 2022. The current pre-facelift version of the M3 Touring will therefore be a relatively rare appearance.
Will you soon stand out in your pre-facelift M3 Touring? Probably only with the BMW adepts. The so-called Lnight Ccycle impulse (LCI) that BMW implements on the M3 does not seem drastic. The bumper work that hides behind the enthusiastic amounts of decal work does not seem to change and the rear of the sporty station wagon also appears unchanged. What does change? Hold on: the infill of the headlights. Undoubtedly, BMW will also polish the interior of the 3-series and therefore also that of the M3s, but we do not expect any major changes here either.
We expect the updated 3-series and M3s to be on the market in the middle of next year. The current M3 Touring is only available as a Competition and in that form is no less than 510 hp strong.
