Those who have been working with Windows for a long time may remember Tweak UI, one of the Microsoft PowerToys. Tweak UIX picks up this thread again, but as an open source project and intended for Windows 10 and 11. You can adjust Windows in no time.

7 Score 70
- Pros
- Lots of tweaks
- Expandable with plugins
- Negatives
- Restore point option is somewhat hidden
- Functions not optimally integrated
- Little feedback
The app aims to make the somewhat more hidden Windowsquickly adjust settings, remove annoying apps, and install useful apps. The program window of the portable Tweak UIX consists of two panes.
On the left you see an overview with categories that you can select and a search function, although the latter is limited to the (sub)categories. On the right you will find an activity log and the option to upload so-called templates.
tweaks
The sections cover parts such as Explorer, Taskbar and Start menu, desktop, Paranoia, gaming and Privacy (disable), and all include some tweaks that you can toggle on or off with a checkmark. Fortunately, the names already make things clear, because except for a few tips, the app is scant with feedback.
You could make it easy for yourself by pressing the button check to press. With this you select the tweaks that the makers themselves find useful, but just to be sure you could go through that list before you click Apply clicks. Furthermore, you are doing well with the option Create Restore Point (…) selectable in the section My Computerso that the app automatically creates a restore point first.
We would have preferred a more prominent place for this feature, even though you can still undo changes via the Undo-knob.
Templates and Plugins
Tweak UIX also gratefully uses the input of various communities. For example, you can have tweaks performed based on a few templates, via the drop-down menu at the top right. You can also install additional templates and plugins from the Options-knob.
The plug-ins can then be found in the section of the same name, fortunately including feedback. The numerous registry tweaks, accessible via a link on the tab Plus Packunfortunately we did not get integrated into the app.
Good to know: together with Tweak UIX, the file is also tweakomatic.exe installed on your drive. Depending on the components selected, this will allow you to install more than sixty useful apps at once or remove redundant apps.
Conclusion
Tweak UIX is a flexible tool to quickly (un)activate certain Windows options, remove stubborn and unwanted apps and install useful tools in batch. As far as we’re concerned, the program interface can be overhauled: more feedback, better integration and a slightly better thought-out design.
