Dacia will participate in Dakar

Two big names behind the wheel

Dacia will participate in Dakar

Dacia profiles itself as a brand with which you can experience adventures off the asphalt. In practice, you will find the Duster mainly on paved roads. Yet Dacia is more than ever interfering with a real off-road world. And not just any. In 2025 Dacia will start in the famous Dakar rally.

Dacia reports that it will participate in ‘Le Dakar’ in 2025 with a factory team. Dacia has set its sights on participating in the T+ category. It does not drum up the least drivers for that. Dacia has found the Spanish Cristina Gutiérrez – who in 2021 was the second woman ever to win a stage in the Dakar Rally – and nine-time WRC champion Sébastien Loeb willing to take the wheel of the Dakar-Dacias in 2025.

Extensive specifications about the Romanian Dakar weapon will keep Dacia under wraps for a while. The brand does say that the car runs on synthetic fuels. Dacia will soon show the first image of its off-road racer. We assume that the rally monster shows external similarities with the new Duster. Dacia joins the English motorsport and engineering group Prodrive for its Dakar adventure. In 2024, the prototypes of the rally Dacias – which also compete in other parts of the World Rally Raid Championship – will be tested during the Rallye du Maroc.

According to Dacia, the Dakar Rally fits in well with its pillars Essential but cool, Robust & Outdoor and Eco-Smart and, like the illustrious Dakar, the brand is ‘unique and human’. This has been thoroughly thought through behind the marketing table.
