Dacia’s first electric car is coming next year

Good news for anyone looking for an affordable electric car: Renault is officially announcing that the very first full electric car from Dacia will be unveiled next year.

At a press conference, Renault looks ahead a little bit at what’s coming. No less than nine electrified news items are on Renault’s schedule within two years. On a fully electric level, the previously confirmed fully electric Renault Twingo will follow this year. What we did not know, however, is that an electric Dacia will follow in 2021.

The model is still parked under a blue cloth on the picture. The color of the canvas indicates that it is a brand new model. As a description, Renault says it will be an ‘urban city car’. Whether they mean an electric Sandero here, for example, is not clear. It could also be that Dacia gets started with the design of the K-EV. In any case, it does mean that there is a good chance that there will be a (very) affordable EV on the road! Furthermore, a fully electric Renault follows on a new modular platform.

Renault also comes with news in the area of plug-in hybrid. The Captur and Mégane Estate have already been announced as a plug-in, but two other models will receive such an E-Tech powertrain. An existing model, probably the Mégane hatchback, but also a completely new model. We are aiming for the new Kadjar. In addition, four other cars will be introduced to Renault’s new hybrid powertrain within two years. We already know one of these cars, three others yet.
