There are more jobs at Daimler than previously assumed. It is possible that not ten or fifteen thousand jobs will be lost in the coming years, sources within the German company report to Handelsblatt on Monday.
Daimler will announce the definitive measures on Tuesday according to the business newspaper. The concern did not want to respond to the story. Last November, Daimler announced to lay off thousands of employees until the end of 2022 in an effort to save 1.4 billion euros on personnel costs. The number is now being increased considerably.
Other measures in the pipeline are simplifying the supply and reducing investments in loss-making projects. Production of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class will end in May. In addition, Mercedes would consider deleting the coupe and convertible versions of the S-Class, Handelsblatt writes. Finally, the future of the B-Class would be uncertain. However, this one has only recently been redesigned, so for the time being the model is expected to continue to work.
