Deepseek forbidden in more and more places: is the app safe?

Germany is now also taking measures against Deepseek because of increasing concern about privacy. This is why this keeps happening.

Deep chat in more and more places forbidden

Deepseek won the world earlier this year, but soon received criticism from, among others, Western governments. The models are highly moderated and questions that China and his government can ask in a bad light are avoided.

But more importantly, the Deepseek privacy policy itself confirms that the app user prompts, uploaded files and other personal data stores on servers in China. And to that end, the authorities have extensive access on the basis of the national intelligence laws of the country.

The latter has ringed alarm bells worldwide. Italy was one of the first countries to remove Deepseek from the local App Stores. South Korea then did the same. In the Netherlands, the app was banned on government and Belgium devices advised officials to avoid the app. The most important consumer organization in Spain has now formally asked for an investigation.

In the meantime, legislators in the US are reportedly busy drawing up legislation that in principle prohibits federal authorities to use AI developed in China. A senator even suggested the idea of imposing a prison sentence users of the app.
