SangYup Lee is Executive Vice President and Head of the Design Department of the Hyundai Motor Group and also heads the Genesis Global Design Center. The fact that Hyundai is in the international spotlight is evident from the fact that Hyundai President and Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke was voted World Car Person of the Year last year.
According to the expert jury of the World Car Person of the Year election, SangYup Lee wins for his leading role in the design of cars such as the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ioniq 6, Kona and N Vision 74. The Ioniq 5 was awarded last year and was awarded the World Electric Car title at the World Car of the Year and won the World Car Design award.
“This award is not just for a single individual, but is the reward for a shared collective passion for creativity, encouraged by the dedication of Hyundai’s top management who set very high standards for us,” said Lee in an accompanying letter. SangYup Lee has been with Hyundai since 2016.
