Dethleffs introduces plug-in hybrid camper

After the e.home and e.home Coco, Dethleffs presents the Globevan e.Hybrid, the first series production motorhome with a plug-in hybrid powertrain.

The Globevan e.Hybrid is based on a Ford Transit Custom PHEV. It was first used as an orderer three years ago, but it also became available to the general public last year. The drive shafts of this plug-in hybrid are purely electrically driven. Up to 50 kilometers of electric range is possible via the battery installed in the vehicle. After that you can still go further, thanks to the built-in range extender – a 1.0-liter three-cylinder EcoBoost petrol engine that is used exclusively as a generator to charge the battery as needed. So the range is no longer a concern. “

The structure of the Transit Custom is not further increased, but retains original dimensions. The roof can be unfolded when stationary at the campsite. A central kitchen is being built inside. The second row of seats can be converted into a bed and the front two seats can be turned 180 degrees.

It is an exciting premiere for the manufacturer. “We are emphatically thinking of future generations, which is why we are dealing intensively with the subject of sustainability in our industry,” said Alexander Leopold, general manager of Dethleffs. “Conservation is one of our main goals, because recreation with caravans and motorhomes and nature experience are one. That is why we have been dealing with electromobility for years, which will be a key to this. With our initiatives we want to do pioneering work and we are committed to achieving electromobility in our industry. ”
