Diesel executioner BMW M340d xDrive on the price list

Techzle can be the first to report what amounts BMW wants to receive for the 3-series M340d xDrive, the version that rules the top of the diesel ladder.

At the end of January, Techzle was able to exclusively release the first images and the first technical specifications of the M340d xDrive, a new executioner of a diesel that was a significant step above the 265 hp 330d. Today we have won the prizes,

The 3 Series Sedan costs € 85,345 as the M340d xDrive. For the 3 Series Touring with this powertrain, BMW asks an amount of € 86,763. These are the most expensive engines on the price list of the 3 series until the arrival of an M3. That will also remain the case with the Touring, as there is little chance that that station will ever be hoisted into an M3 suit. The price difference with the M340i xDrive, the M Performance version with petrol engine, is about 6 mille, while the price difference with the 330d xDrive is in both cases about € 16,000.

For your more than 85 mille you will at least get a 3-series with a very potent diesel engine. The 3.0-liter six-in-line pumps 340 hp and 700 Nm via an eight-speed automatic to all four wheels. Thanks to mild hybrid technology, the powertrain squeezes out 11 extra horsepower. The 3-series Sedan M340d xDrive thus shoots in 4.6 seconds to a speed of 100 km / h, the Touring as M340d xDrive takes 0.2 seconds longer for the same task. The top speed is electronically limited to 250 km / h in both body styles. Then the average consumption: the sedan settles for – depending on the chosen version – 5.3 to 5.7 liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. The Touring is negligibly thirsty with 5.4 to 5.8 l / 100 km. The car can temporarily ‘sail’ with the engine switched off up to a speed of 160 km / h.

The sportiest diesel versions of the 3-series range can be recognized from the outside by their M-spoiler and bumper work and stand on sporty-looking 18-inch alloy. In Europe, the M340d xDrive is a direct competitor to the Audi S4, a car that last year exchanged its petrol engine for a 347 hp 3.0 TDI.
